Overview of Excursion:
Explore the streets of Port Louis, discover the rich history and culture of our capital, and taste some of the great street food our island has to offer. Led by our guide and your curiosity, join us on a culinary and cultural journey, deep in the heart of our capital. Starting at the Caudan Waterfront, we will walk through Port Louis and stop at our favourite food spots for flavoursome delights. From fresh fruits at the local market, to Port Louis’ best “roti”, there is no better way to experience our island’s authenticity.
What we’ll do
Starting at the Caudan Waterfront, we will venture into Port Louis and stop at some of the best street food spots for bite-sized delights! Along the way, we will meet the friendly Ahmed and taste his family’s dholl puris, a type of yellow flat bread and, arguably, Mauritians’ favourite street food. He will tell us his story and we will taste what makes his dholl puris the best!
Testimony of the chinese culture present on the island, we will then discover Mauritian style dumplings also known as “boulettes”. During the rest of the tour, we will stop by a small garden with majestic trees in the middle of the city and try a different type of flatbread, flavoured with curries, spices and a sweet twist. We will also visit the colourful, flavourful, and not-to-be-missed Port Louis market, where we will meet Baby and his family for some deliciously fresh, Mauritian-style tropical fruit snacks. Towards the end of the tour, we will pop by China Town to try some special Chinese treats. Our delicious street food tour will give you a taste of each Mauritian culture and a glimpse of local life on the island.
