Commitment to environmental sustainability

Mautourco blends creativity with environmental sensibility to craft authentic but also sustainable experiences for our guests.

Mautourco has been at the forefront of the DMC landscape in Mauritius in terms of developing more sustainable and engaging ways of exploring the destination. We offer a number of tours that give our guests the opportunity to explore the wealth of natural heritage that abounds on our island.

We take our guests off the beaten track to places of sweeping natural beauty like the endemic sanctuary of Ile aux Aigrettes, off the South-East shores of Mauritius. Heritage Nature Reserve in the unspoilt South is another wonderful oasis of biodiversity, including a unique 3,594-hectare UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Bel Ombre. The neighbouring Black River Gorges National Park is home to one of the island’s last native forests.

Ebony Forest in the upland region of Chamarel is an active forest conservation site with more than 140,000 native trees planted over 14 hectares. Hiking in the 200-hectare Vallée de Ferney nature reserve is another opportunity to admire the native forest biodiversity of Mauritius.

Some of the places that we introduce our guests to were previously little known to visitors to our island. Their experience is enhanced by the knowledgeable insights provided by our trained guides.

Through shedding light on these precious natural assets that make Mauritius such a great destination, we also want to contribute to raising awareness about the need to preserve and protect them.
